Individual Medical Appointments
Primary care and lifestyle medicine appointments include both conventional and lifestyle treatments, based on your individual goals, health concerns, and abilities. In-person and telemedicine appointments available (for eligible insurance plans). Adults and children are welcome.
Patient referrals are accepted for those seeking lifestyle treatments for disease prevention and management or those interested in attending any of our classes. Most health insurances are accepted, except Kaiser. Please call our clinic to confirm your insurance plan is accepted.
Group Medical Appointments
Classes are open to both KLMC patients and patients of other providers. Physician referrals are required for outside patients.
Pono Lifestyle Series
A Hawaiʻi-based, lifestyle medicine six-class series that includes health and nutrition education and interactive discussion. Become empowered by learning how to prevent, treat, and reverse a variety of lifestyle-related diseases through good nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, reducing risky behaviors, and social connections.
Health and Wellness
Learn both conventional and alternative treatments for recurrent health conditions, including arthritis, gout, lower back pain, weight loss, men's health, women's health, and more. These classes are ideal for those with ongoing challenges in managing their conditions and are interested in learning alternative treatments to supplement their current treatment plan.
Plant-Based Cooking Classes
Learn how to prepare simple and affordable local style plant-based recipes, while learning the benefits and effects of specific foods on your health.
Hoʻōla: Hawaiian Healing Program
This is a three-day program that combines traditional Hawaiian healing methods along with a plant-based diet, aimed at cleansing the body from toxins and impurities. This can help the body better heal and recover from diseases, regulate digestion and metabolism, and reduce inflammation. Physician clearance is required to participate. Participants meet together once for orientation, instruction on detox protocol, and to pick up meals and beverages. One-on-one medical evaluation also conducted. Six cleansing beverages and six meals are included in this program.
Individual Nutrition Counseling
Meet privately with a Registered Dietitian (RD) to get individualized diet recommendations and a meal plan, based on your medical concerns, food preferences, and lifestyle habits.
Appointments may be done in conjunction with individual medical appointments.
Genetic and Gut Microbiome Testing
Learn more about your individual nutrient needs, risk for different diseases, medication sensitivities and side effects, and rate of aging through genetic testing. Gut microbiome tests are also available to assess microbiome imbalances that can help determine the best course of treatment.
Complementary and Alternative Therapies and Treatments
Complementary and alternative therapies offer holistic approaches to health by combining conventional medicine with evidence-based natural treatments. These therapies can be used alongside standard treatments to stimulate or enhance healing naturally.
Integrative Pain Management and Tissue Healing Therapies
Reduce your pain naturally through alternative healing therapies, including: Manual therapy; Cupping; Therapeutic Ultrasound; E-Stim; Frequency Specific Microcurrent; Red Light Therapy; and, Interferential Stimulation. Treatment plan will be based upon health conditions being treated and medical evaluation by your physician. Covered by insurance. Personal pay options available for uninsured or Kaiser patients.
Ultrasonic Cavitation and Radio Frequency
Involves use of ultrasonic radio waves and radio frequency to remove fat deposits under the skin. This procedure is non-surgical, non-invasive, and pain-free. Results are seen within the first week of treatment.
Red Light Therapy
RLT uses low-level wavelengths of near-infrared light to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular function. It may promote tissue repair and reduce inflammation to treat conditions like arthritis, muscle pain, and skin disorders, as well support weight management efforts by improving metabolism, reducing fat tissue, and promoting fat loss.
Chronic Care Management & Principle Care Management
Development of a care plan to help you with medication management and help addressing urgent and other chronic care needs. Patients who participate in this service will receive monthly follow-up visits with the KLMC health care team.

Order your vitamin and herbal supplements from our online dispensary. Fullscript gives our patients access to top-quality supplements and features to help them achieve their wellness goals. COVID-19 Testing
Offering COVID-19 NAAT testing, with results ready in 20 minutes. Insurance providers typically cover testing cost for people with COVID-19 symptoms or those whom have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 and ordered by a licensed health care provider. Under current federal guidelines, insurance providers "are not required to provide coverage of testing such as for public health surveillance or employment purposes. But there is also no prohibition or limitation on plans and issuers providing coverage for such tests". Insurance providers generally do not cover for travel. It is recommended you check with your insurance provider to learn whether they cover COVID testing and under what circumstances. Our costs for testing not covered by insurance and testing for travel is $150.00 for Hawai'i residents and $185.00 for non-residents. This testing method meets Hawai'i County and State employee testing requirements. Testing is by appointment only.

Clinic Policies
The following policies are in place to better serve all our patients:
Face masks continue to be required at all times you are in the clinic (no exceptions)
Only those without COVID-19 symptoms will be allowed in the clinic
Prescription refills will be done for three (3) months at a time. An appointment is required to get your next three-month refill so Dr. Matsuo can evaluate your current condition and whether your current prescription(s) needs any changes.
Prescription refill requests between visits will cost $7.00 per medication and will take about 72 hours to be completed
Patients who don't show up or cancel their appointment less than 24 hours prior to appointment time will be charged $25.00. This is not reimbursable by insurance.
Patients who show up 10 minutes late for their appointment will be rescheduled to another day and time.
